The Vivo X500 Pro is currently available only in China, and Vivo has not yet announced a global launch. On paper, it looks like a focused upgrade over the Vivo X300 Pro. The biggest change is the new 2nm MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, which replaces the 3nm Dimensity 9500. Vivo claims up to 17% higher single-core peak performance and 27% higher GPU peak performance, based on MediaTek’s own comparison with the Dimensity 9500. The phone also runs OriginOS 7 instead of OriginOS 6, and it adds a larger ice-vein vapor chamber for cooling and a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The display is a mixed story. The X500 Pro has a 6.36-inch ZEISS Master Color display with a BOE Q11 panel and LTPO 1–144Hz adaptive refresh rate, up from the X300 Pro’s 1–120Hz. Pixel density also rises slightly, from 452 PPI to 459 PPI, while peak brightness stays at 4,500 nits. However, the screen is noticeably smaller than the 6.78 inches on the X300 Pro, so anyone who liked the larger display may see this as a step back. The body is also slightly thicker in most colors, at 8.12mm, or 7.95mm in the gray color, compared with 7.99mm on the X300 Pro.
The camera system has the most important changes. The 50MP main camera uses the new Blueprint Light Fusion 900 sensor, co-developed with Sony, and keeps the same 1/1.28-inch size and f/1.57 aperture as the X300 Pro’s main camera. Vivo claims 17EV of dynamic range, 4K 240fps slow motion and 4K 120fps video with subject tracking. Stabilisation on the main and telephoto cameras improves to CIPA 7.0, up from CIPA 5.5 on the X300 Pro. The telephoto camera, though, is a clear downgrade in resolution. It uses a 64MP 1/2-inch sensor with an 85mm equivalent focal length and f/2.52 aperture, compared with the 200MP 1/1.4-inch ZEISS APO telephoto (f/2.67) on the X300 Pro. The 50MP ultra-wide camera is essentially unchanged.
Battery and charging stay the same, with a 6,510mAh cell and 90W wired plus 40W wireless charging. The X500 Pro moves to fifth-generation silicon-anode technology (fourth-generation on the X300 Pro) and adds better cold-weather performance, and both phones offer IP68 and IP69 protection. There are a few things to keep in mind. The 200mm-equivalent ZEISS telephoto extender and the rear “Snap” screen are sold separately, and eSIM support is limited to the 12GB + 1TB variant. Overall, the X500 Pro suits buyers who want a faster chip, a smoother display and better video and stabilisation in a compact body. Those who prefer a big screen and a high-resolution telephoto camera may find the X300 Pro more appealing.
