The Realme 16 5G (RMX5171) is an upcoming budget mid-range smartphone that has currently launched only in Vietnam. The device is expected to arrive soon in India as well as Gulf countries. Meanwhile, the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro Plus models have already been launched in India, but the Realme 16 series has not yet debuted in Gulf markets. In India, the Realme 16 5G is expected to be priced under ₹25,000, while in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and other Gulf countries, the expected price range is around 1,000 Riyal to 1,100 Riyal.
In terms of specifications, the Realme 16 5G comes with a large 7000mAh battery, similar to the Pro variants in the series. However, while the previous generation offered 80W fast charging, this model supports 60W fast charging, marking a slight downgrade in charging speed.
The display has also seen changes compared to its predecessor, the Realme 15 5G. The Realme 15 5G featured a 6.8-inch quad-curved display with 1280p resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 6500 nits peak brightness. In contrast, the Realme 16 5G offers a smaller 6.57-inch flat AMOLED display with 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 4200 nits peak brightness.
Performance has been slightly reduced as well. The previous model was powered by the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300+, whereas the new model features the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo processor. The camera setup has also been downgraded from a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide lens to a 50MP Sony IMX852 sensor without OIS, paired with a 2MP monochrome camera. The front camera, however, remains unchanged at 50MP.
Additionally, the phone offers strong durability features with IP69, IP68, and IP66 ratings for water and dust resistance. Since the device is currently available only in Vietnam, there is a possibility that specifications may change slightly when it officially launches in India and the Gulf markets.
